Graphic Art To Me
"Why not put using computers and art together and make a career out of it.
So I did some research and BOOM, graphic design."
Graphic design is a form of visual arts, that is mainly used for commercial purposes. When I was in high school, I didn’t really know what I wanted to be. It was getting to the end of my high school career (secondary 4), and that’s when you decide if you want to go into the fields of sciences or stick to the regular stuff like C.S.T math or S.C math. So I decided to stick with the regular courses and get the best marks I could to boost up my grades. During the time in secondary 4 I had a great art teacher that really made me interested in my art courses. In secondary 5 I had another great art teacher that made me more interested in art. But as well, I started to have an interest in computers. So one day I just thought of an idea why not put using computers and art together and make a career out of it. So I did some research and BOOM, graphic design. At the end of my high school I won a bursary $200 for Cegep, and since then I've been in cegep for 3 months in visual arts. Starting to pursue my career in graphic design.
Some examples of graphic design are making brochures, posters, creating websites, even making magazines or newspaper ads. But there are so many different examples of different projects in graphic design. The way the graphic design career works is a client comes to you and asks for help for a project she/he has in mind. The client proposes ideas she/he had in mind for the final product. So during the time period the client gives the artist, he/she will create the piece that the client wants. The artist will also add he/hers artistic flares to it. Then the artist will make a meeting within the middle part of the creation, with the client and if there is anything else she/he will need to add or dislikes. If so, then back to work she/he goes. After the client approves the piece the artist will produce the product. Then the artist will be paid. There are 3 different types of arts; visual arts, applied arts and performing arts. This arts all have different purposes. Visual art is a form of art that uses any type of medium (medium is any material you use in art) to help get the artist’s idea across. Applied arts is a mixture with visual art and it can be it is art that applies to the real world and the functions it has in the real world. For example fashion design and architecture. Performing arts is the last type of art and it includes dance, music, opera, films, theater, drama, magic shows and stand up comedies. Graphic design is a form of visual arts. It uses a lot of communication skills and artist skills as well.
Some people compare graphic design to industrial design. The reason why is it’s sort of in the same category as graphic design. What I mean by that is that both careers design products but in industrial design don't just focus on the look of the product, but also on how it functions, is it manufactured and has the most value for the product users. While in graphic designers, they create visual concepts, by hand or using computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate consumers. They create the overall layout and production design. The main cause of why graphic design is the need to get the clients ideas out there. If we didn’t have advertising then people wouldn’t buy stuff then we'd have too much stuff in the store and so on and so on… but the effects of graphic design is it helps promote ideas to the world, and entrepreneurial people will be able to propose their new ideas to the world.
In the end graphic design isn't just art. It helps promote different ideas to the world and creates a broader vision to the commercial society.
